Simplifying Cash Management: An Interview with Robert Morse, Senior Partner at The Private Office (TPO)

18 June 2024
In today’s high-interest-rate economy, effective cash management is more crucial than ever. The Private Office (TPO), an award-winning team of independent, Chartered Financial Planning experts based in London, is dedicated to protecting and growing their clients’ wealth. Through a recent partnership with Flagstone International, TPO aims to provide their international clients with a seamless cash management solution. We spoke with Robert Morse, Senior Partner at TPO, to learn more about their experiences with Flagstone International’s platform.
Interview Questions and Answers:
Can you tell us a bit about The Private Office and your role within the firm?
The Private Office is a Chartered firm of independent financial adviser and planners, helping a wide range of clients meet their financial goals. We are team based and offer transparent fees for clients based on time, risk and complexity moving away from the more traditional IFA contingent fee model. For myself I work with a number of other advisers to support a number of entrepreneurs, families especially in our Family Office service – you can see more here: https://www.theprivateoffice.com/about-us/advisers/robert-morse
What challenges were you facing with cash management before using Flagstone International?
We have always advised on cash, with our sister company Savings Champion and our fee structure clients do not have to be investing to become a client. But despite trying to make the cash work as hard as possible for the agreed level of counterparty risk we really struggled with more complex corporate structures and/or US connected clients, where most providers won’t help.
How has the Flagstone International platform helped address these challenges for your clients?
The range of currencies, decent number of recognisable banks offering competitive rates and the ability to service clients from all over the world addressed most of our challenges.
What specific features of the platform do you find most beneficial for your clients?
It is no one feature, but rather the service offered while providing a decent range that is the winning combination for our clients.
How has using the platform impacted your business operations?
The back-office service is exemplary, and I cannot stress enough how that makes the process work. Some great ideas are currently so poorly executed, that you lose money using them. Not so Flagstone International.
Can you share how you personally use the platform and what benefits you’ve experienced?
Day to day we are able to easily manage a clients liquidity, while easily being able to reinvest as fixed terms come up without complex admin. Strategically the client can really manage their cashflow, while maximizing their return especially where funds might not be needed for some time. For us the key risk is counterparty, so the ability to spread deposits across a range of well-known names is very important and helps the client feel comfortable about their funds.
Conclusion:
The Private Office’s partnership with Flagstone International has empowered non-UK clients to manage their cash portfolios more effectively. With access to competitive rates and the ability to diversify and transact across multiple currencies, TPO clients can now optimise their cash holdings and achieve better financial outcomes. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with TPO and supporting their mission to provide exceptional financial advice and services.
